Toby Thompson is the author of five books of nonfiction, including Saloon, Metroliner, and Riding the Rough String: Reflections on the American West. He has written for magazines as varied as Esquire, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone and Big Sky Journal. He teaches nonfiction in the creative writing program at Penn State. He lives in Cabin John, Maryland and in Livingston, Montana.
