Thompson Smith is the Coordinator of History and Geography Projects for the Salish-Pend d'Oreille Culture Committee, a department of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Smith contributed to two recent tribal projects: Fire on the Land: Science, History, and Culture of Fire and Native People in the Northern Rockies, and Explore the River: Bull Trout, Tribal People, and the Jocko River. Smith currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Flathead Basin Commission.
